1. Don’t step out in the sun without applying sunscreen lotion having SPF 15 or 30 (depending on your skin type) as sun’s ultraviolet rays can harm your skin.
2. Apply your sunscreen at least half an hour before stepping out in the sun, and reapply at least every 2 hours. If you are swimming or exercising you should choose a water-resistant sunscreen, and reapply it more often.
3. Avoid using sunscreen as a way of extending your time in the sun for sunbathing as it can rise your risk of melanoma-type skin cancer.
4. Besides putting up lotion you should cover up your body as much as possible, try wearing wide brim hats that protects your face, head, neck and ears and wear full sleeves shirts.
5. Always wear UV- blocking sunglasses.
6. The suns rays are strongest from 10 am to 4 pm during summer and from 10 am and 2pm during the rest of the years, so limit avoid going out for long duration during these hours and if you have to then avoid direct sun exposure.
7. Water, concrete and sand surfaces reflect UV rays and hence you can have sunburn even if you are seated in the shade.
8. Some people think that on cloudy or cool days their is no need to apply sunscreen but it is wrong, as even on these days UV radiationdefine levels can be high enough to damage your skin.
9. Every month do examine your skin from head to toe.
